Artist Statement :

My paintings are rich in contrast and color. I depict moods within portraits and fictional landscapes that are personal as well as universal. The past 6 months I have been working on a new language in my painting. It was there already in my drawings; an illustrative style of depicting my past and my present. In the painting called Home: all of the objects I used before come together en communicate. Because of the juxtaposition they start their own language through association, and it's actually telling me what I am about and how I view the world.
If I try to describe this painting:
Yes, there is a lot of pollution in the world worth thinking about; while thinking about that I'm wondering whether it is possible to make a phone call to God. I am playing around with my pink rabbits and cables and hanging my clothes to dry, everyday business as time passes by. My past is always with me, I carry it with me without questioning and travel anywhere with it. And finally: I really care about aesthetics and I really care about colouring this grey world.

I create works that both look outwards (as in portraits) - questioning the world -, as well as inwards (figurative, emotional inner worlds created through depth and layering).
