Artist Statement:

I have passion for the transformative power that can come from the simple act of applying pigments to canvas. I am compelled to paint by the everyday, yet archetypical, places, circumstances and relationships that we all encounter as we form our personal and normative views of the world. Representing the human figure in paint was a necessity in my journey to translate my personal observations and philosophies into a representational form on canvas. This spurred my decision to study with Mark Kang-OHiggins in his Drawing and Painting Atelier program at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, Washington. This full-time program is modeled after the French academies of the nineteenth century. The goal is to develop aesthetics and mastery of traditional skills for the contemporary artist.

Prior to studying with Mark, I studied for four years with Pacific Northwest landscape artist Victor Sandblom. I have exhibited in the greater Seattle area.
