Artist Statement:

Have you ever looked at a work of art and imagined yourself in the scene? Have you ever observed a painting or illustration that moved you in a special way? Perhaps something within the scene reminded you of your childhood, a special event in your life or a present relationship. Upon looking at the piece, did you smile, cry or laugh to yourself as you reflected back, or think, “I can relate to this?”

The purpose of my collection entitled, “No Faces,” allows any observer to “place” his or her self in the actual piece. I call it “interactive artwork” because I use common scenarios and settings that the average, everyday person can relate to. Wives, how many times have you looked in a room at your husband tenderly nurturing your babies? Husbands, how many times have you seen your wives snuggling with your bundle of joy?
Mothers, how many times have you seen your children run to their daddies at the front door asking them not to leave? Fathers, how often can you capture those spontaneous “tickle monster” moments with your children?

“No Faces” is a personal journey of mine that I have chosen to share visually throughout my adult years. Most of these pieces I have created have affected me personally and I have “memorialized” them through visual imagery. The intention for my work is to “speak” to the masses in a way that allows them to share in my journey and/or create their own path down memory lane. The idea of not focusing on the facial features allows me to capture the emotionalism within the piece and not necessarily the realistic features or details. My goal is to allow the observer to walk away with a feeling they personally, or indirectly, can relate to. Enjoy.
